Laptop prices are falling all the time as better and newer models come to the market. This normally means laptops with lesser specification and just a few months old will be quite a bit cheaper than the very latest models. So, as long as you know what you want a laptop for, it should be easy to find a reasonably priced one without breaking the bank.
Getting the ‘latest’ model has always been a craze in the technology sector, whether it’s the latest phone or laptop. There are always newer models replacing the current models, which sometimes aren’t even 6 months old. For the very basic user of mobile computing, a recently replaced model by the big manufacturers would be a good place to start when looking for the best deals online or in the shops.
You can find affordable laptops as long as you know what to look for when doing your search. Always look at different makes with similar specification, as the price is only an indication of the various models available, i.e. compare like with like.
You’ll find some brands of laptops are more expensive than others, even though the specs are the same. This is when you’ll be paying extra for the brand rather than what’s inside the laptop. Avoid being confused by the makes and models, have a list of the most important components, e.g. processor speed and type, amount of RAM, hard disk size, graphics capability and output and screen size.
Understand the manufacturer’s warranty terms and conditions before you buy any laptop. Some only provide 12 months while other include a free 24 months warranty. This would be a good point also to check the supplier or manufacturer’s after-sale service and if there are any restrictions.
In today’s market, it wouldn’t be difficult finding some laptop deals starting from £350, but, again ensure you take everything into account – e.g. does the price include VAT and delivery and any software. It is easy getting the ‘wrong’ deal online, so take every care before hitting that ‘confirm’ button!
