Choosing a ComputerComputers are a very useful tool in every aspect of our lives.  But, some people might find it difficult to search  for the best computer package for their home or business. There are easy tips in choosing the best computer deal for your needs to avoid making the wrong choice.  Are you looking for a basic home/office PC or a really powerful machine for multimedia and/or gaming?  These are just one of the questions you need to look at when selecting the best computer deals online or in the shops.

So, decide what you’re looking for first; basic home/office desktop, laptop, netbook or a really powerful gaming machine.  If mobility is important and you need access to your data and the internet on the move, then a laptop or netbook will be the best solution for you. Otherwise you need to decide on the power of a desktop computer for your home/office requirements, e.g. will your teenage children want to use it for multimedia or gaming?  Another important point is your budget.

Next you need to get familiar and actually understand some very important technical terms; e.g. CPU (the processor or engine of a PC/laptop – the higher the ‘speed’, the more powerful the CPU for multi-tasking), Memory (RAM – the higher the better for multi-tasking), Hard Disk (bigger doesn’t mean better, as this is just the ‘petrol tank’ of a PC), built-in graphics card or a dedicated one (you’d need a decent dedicated one for multimedia and/or gaming use).  The operating system (OS) is also important with regard to which one you should get, as most manufacturers will use the latest one available in the market (e.g. Windows 7).  However, some vendors will be prepared to put an older OS on for you if required (e.g. XP Home).

Using the above knowledge is important in finding the best computer deal for yourself, since you wouldn’t look to buy a car without first knowing about your own budget, make and model, engine size, colour, use and number of seats.
